Karen Shares Her Personal Summer Skin Routine

As we all know, skin changes from season to season; every climate, depending on where we live, is different. Our skin is constantly trying to adjust itself to achieve balance, which is why you will find that the products you use during the winter months are not working as well in the summer. In order to help your complexion reach this balance, adjusting your skin care routine with the seasons is important. I love summer, and I am glad it is here. However, my skin is letting me know that I need to lighten things up a little. Who want to have oily skin during summer days? I am skin type IV, but I often switch things around depending on what my skin needs. Here are some of the changes I have been making for the summer months:

My Morning Routine

Step 1: While I love using Hydrating Face Cleanser by IMAGE during winter months, I switch to using Lipid Replacing Cleansing Gel by Circadia to cleanse my skin more deeply. It feels really great, and it refreshes my skin when it’s hot and dry outside. I also tend to wake up with puffy eyes in the morning, so I like to apply ice-cold compresses around my eyes for three minutes each. This allows the capillaries to constrict, and it helps reduce puffy eyes. On top of that, especially with the dry Colorado summer days, it’s very refreshing.

Step 2: I highly recommend using John Masters Organics’ Vitamin C Anti-Aging Face Serum all year round. It is great for your skin, and you can use it all the time.

Step 3: After applying the serum, I use the Ageless Total Repair Crème by IMAGE. This is one of my favorite products. With my olive skin tone, I tend to develop some brown spots, even when I wear sunscreen every day (skin cells get stimulated by heat). This product helps to keep the dark spots under control, and it gives my skin a powerful dose of antioxidants.

Step 4: I never leave my house without IMAGE’s Prevention + Matte Oil-Free SPF 32. It was hard for me to find a sunscreen that didn’t leave my skin oily or clog my pores, but this one left me in awe. It is gel based and feels amazing on my skin. I also dab Vitamin C Hydrating Eye Recovering Gel around my eyes. It helps with puffiness.

My Night Routine

Step 1: Rose Foaming Face Wash by John Masters Organics is my favorite evening cleanser (during the summer) to remove my makeup. I usually use the Ageless Total Facial Cleanser in the winter, but I like something lighter and more soothing for the heat. It helps with my skin redness as well.

Step 2: I have always been a big fan of Vital C Hydrating ACE Serum; I never go to bed without applying this amazing product. It helps with my brown spots, and it transforms the texture of my skin by reducing the appearance of my pores. This is the one product that I can’t live without. I highly recommend it for anyone.

Step 3: I like to keep things simple at night to allow my skin to recover. However, if I feel that my skin is feeling too dry, I like to apply a small douse of Total Pure Hyaluronic Filler, which helps keep my skin cells plump and healthy without injections.

Step 4: Lastly, I never forget to use my eye cream during the day or at nighttime. I LOVE the Vital C hydrating Eye Recovering Gel. I am obsessed with keeping the lines around my eyes soft and smooth.
